What is Hashimoto's Thyroiditis?

Have you heard of it?

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is a chronic autoimmune inflammation of the thyroid gland. Symptoms are weight gain, fatigue, swollen face, an increase in finger size, dry skin, slowed transit, constipation, muscle pain, interruption of menstruation…

It is often due to a viral infection. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is mainly caused by staphylococci or streptococci. It can be detected by looking for nodules and goiter by ultrasound.

There are hormonal treatments for this. But often it is on a case-by-case basis. It is also important to follow a diet with a preference for nutrient-rich foods.
